Lansing
Historical Society Presents
"Tri
Motors in Plane View"
Celebrating the 80th anniversary
of the Ford Hangar at Lansing,
Illinois Municipal Airport.

Mayor Dan Podgorski, Trustee Patty
Eidam, and Historical Society President Donald Olsen
with one of the sidewalk
Tri Motors slated for the public art project.
The Lansing Historical Society, in cooperation with the
Village of Lansing, is bringing public art to Lansing.
As Chicago had cows, Seattle had pigs, and Crown Point
had
bulldogs, Lansing will now have Ford Tri Motor airplanes.
The Tri Motor is being used as the symbol for a celebration
to commemorate this 80th anniversary. Fiberglass Tri Motors
will be used as various animals have been used in sidewalk
public art projects all over the country.
Three models of the Tri Motor are being used for the project.
The first is a whimsical, animated, sidewalk model. The
second is an exact 1/18 scale of the original Ford airplane.
The third is a twelve inch version of the sidewalk Tri
Motor. This "baby" Tri Motor was used for our Village wide
classroom project.
This project will not only enable the Lansing Historical
Society to continue its non-profit work, it will celebrate
our small town spirit of involvement. As the entire Village
works together to create this dazzling and unexpected display,
we will watch the Tri Motors come once again to colorful
life!
